is it just me or are a heck of a lot of people calling it 'Hadouken' nowadays. now according to the manual or atleast the EU manual then it was 'H'doken' or Hadoken, thing is in japanese speech y'dont really pronounce the 'U' sound much anyway so the pronounciation should be 'Had Oh Ken!' or Hadow (as in Meadow). then theres the band Hadouken, (which stole the name of a band i was in (THE BASTARDS!)) Sorry this is a bit of a rant but the whole rhy-oo, rhee-oo, zangeef thing reminded me glad the ZangYef pronounciation was picked up on though (hats off to mike) Zangeef is a bit german as apposed to russian and i've always called him Rhy-oo can anyone get confirmation on how he is? cause i think its one of those across the water kinda things, most people in the US ive heard said it Rhee-ooh and Zangeef but over here we do it all the other way haha sorry for the rant
cheers all

You couldn't be more on the ball, Norinaga.
I also use the pronunciation of hadouken using the same one as for its root word, hadou (or ha-DOH). Where Ryu's name is concerned, many Japanese fans have explained that the R is barely pronounced, almost like the R at the end of a word before considering the Y as the beginning of the very next word, the way we couple them like train cars in a fluent speech.
You have the Red Cyclone's name correct as well. Most Americans call him Zan-GEEF which is, in fact, a German name with the E before the I. Zangief's Russian name, based on popular hairy Russian wrestler, Victor Zangiev, would have a Russian pronunciation (Zan-GYEF). Although, in the TV series, Michael Donovan has Zangief saying, "Ya", instead of "Da", he sure has the pronunciation of the name correct.
For the sake of making it easy for Westerners, the primary pronunciation of Mr. Hoshi's name will, as in the second TV series, sound like ree-YOO, just as ken calls it throughout the series.
Where is "over here", by the way?

LMAO!!! Abel is French. I guess that's as close as it gets for now. Should be a new SF character to represent Canada. Also Australia.

Hmm... Hadn't considered that. Still, it could be interesting to see super moves like an Atomic Canadian Snub hurled headlong in the face of a Mega Australian Roundhouse Shrug. It sure would confuse the hell out of Zangief... Then again, so would refolding a road map.

That reminds me... You take the word Penis... is the plural of that Penii? I've actually heard that one over the years; like octopi. You'd think I'd be more certain about this having two penises myself... well, okay, one of 'em's mine and the other is Zangief's (one of the perks of being an actor).
