Ah, Nick! I'd already become a fan of his before I met him in the green room at a camera test we were both doing for a movie. That's when he told me that Sam Reich had just cast him as Guile on our show and I flipped!
The costumes will be similar for the most part (in the interest of continuity with "Later Years") but a hell of a lot sturdier since there will be so much more fighting. The biggest difference may well be with Vega who will be sporting a wide variety of different looks that play on the themes of his three main careers; bullfighter, Street Fighter and soap opera star. Balrog will be outfitted when in street duds by Jesus Juice, who will be providing fashions for other members of the cast as well, just as Orbach's outfitted the cast of "Dark Shadows". In "Later Years" Zangief dumped the old pro wrestling gear in exchange for a more up-to-date UFC style look for his big comeback. He may be a relic but he certainly doesn't want to look like one. I've been told that there may be some network concern about his new MMA look and especially his "package". But all that skin is part of what makes Zangief Zangief. Especially his package. TJ said they may suggest a baggier pair of shorts for him but I like the idea that we may be pushing the envelope a bit. I mean, come on. R. Mika has big knockers but does that mean we have to throw a sweatshirt over her? Hey, if they still can't handle it, they can shoot Zangief from the waist up and Mika from the neck up.
Ken will be getting a much more realistic blond wig and E. Honda returns to his traditional Sumo yukata. Both he and Ryu will return to bare feet. Seeing them in shoes last time drew a lot of criticism from fans and I don't really know why they did it. It was like putting parachute pants on Zangief. Weird.
A bit of trivia: Sean T. Krishnan's Dhalsim was only barefooted when he knew his feet would be in shot (he'd always ask). So whenever his feet are out of shot he's wearing thongs. Trouble is, he has a hard time running in them. In Episode 9 of TLY, watch the scene where Zangief and Dhalsim are running through the streets searching for Ryu and Honda. You'll see Dhalsim almost tripping in his thongs while Zangief has no trouble traversing the pavement on his bare feet.
I was surprised to learn from TJ Glenn just how flimsy his Vega outfit really was! His new one will be built to withstand all the flips, kicks, rolls and tumbles TJ has always been able to dish out as the accomplished stunt man he is in real life.

fantastic! action is on the way! one thing about SFtyl that got to me a little was vega's claws, they started of vaguely looking right ( from a distance) then went all freddy kruger, now this is obvious why this was done praqcticality and budget and whatnot but here comes the question:
will the props change?
to be honest they were of a pretty high standard to begin with as with the costumes, (although apparently flimsyhahah )

You'll be pleased to know that, although the forensics experts, medical examiner and detectives in SFR at the crime scene talk about five entry wounds in Sagat's body, in keeping with the weapon that we all saw Vega use on him, our prop department will be outfitting Vega with his more familiar long parallel steel blades, three of them, curved right near the ends as you've always remembered them to be.

I think I just had a flashback to Dhalsim and me waiting in the hall for Vega to answer the door, LOL!

I can't believe I hadn't thought of this before: we gotta have a spin-off called I Love Lucienda! XD See, the way Vega was exasperatedly exclaiming Spanish words always reminded me of Ricky Ricardo for some strange reason.

LOL!!!! That is brilliant! I don't know why it never occurred to me, either! Maybe it would make for a good sketch to work into the "Life with Zangief" series. If we ever do, we'll make sure you're credited and paid appropriately, of course. Great idea, Deco!
