They did an excellent job on the effects and especially on the hadouken (fire ball) effect. It's great to see how the did it and how it turned out. Thanks for sharing that!

I too like the fireball effect it seems to be very realistic at least as far as the mind can stretch to believe it can. Keep them coming.

Oh for sure it had to have taken several days to do the effects I'm sure. It depends how much time they put into it each day. I would also like to know how much time it took to do everything.

Interesting how Sam Reich and the guys over at Ghostlight Digital have never met in person yet have this terrific working relationship. Sam told me that, when he first received the hadouken effects from them, he loved it but had to tell them that the fireball should be blue. That was no problem and Sam got the corrected version back in only two hours! But the actual formation of those effects can be very involved affairs and take a matter of days apiece to achieve.

Wow.  That seeemed alot simpler then I was expecting.  I thought you guys might of used computer generated particle effects to do it. The way you guys did it was brilliant. It was realstic to the point of being beliveable.

I can't imagine why the lameass hollywood version didn't have this. All it was what a blue flash and some guy fall over.

I'm always blown away by the technical crew's ability to make anything that Sam and Jeff write come to life and in such a believable way.

This new season promises to be absolutely epic and full of even more and increasingly dramatic special effects. It may take an entire staff to facilitate them but, ahh, it's nice to have superpowers! Looking forward to executing the Spinning Piledriver!

I guess they'd have you guys sit in a  entirely bluescreen room and then have the camera pan around you to make it appear you where spinning. Either that or have you guys sit on a rotating platform which might work better since you could spin faster.  You'd be really dizzy afterwards tho.

Might be worth it to look at all the individual animations and see if you can contort yourself into those postions.

That is EXACTLY how I was thinking it might go! Of course, nowadays, you no longer need a green screen for matte photography thanks to digital technology (I still remember doing Chromakey effects in front of blue screens on television years ago). Here's how I imagine it will transpire (watch me be totally wrong, LOL):

Both Zangief and his opponent are in the upside-down bear hug position for a classic piledriver atop a revolving platform which is elevated some thirty feet above the ground with camera at the same level. Lights remain static as we are slowly revolved and then "scanned" by the camera while the camera slowly descends on its lift, the frame remaining fixed upon the two rotating and "rising" fighters. Afterward, when they are added to the desired background, the speed of their spinning ascent can be adjusted to make it as fast as is desired. The sequence continues in reverse now so that the spinning Russian can ram his opponent's head right into the ground.

Having the subjects rotate rather than have the camera circle them means that the light sources won't travel with the characters.

I wonder how close I am to accuracy here. Guess I'll find out this fall when we start shooting episodes 8 through 10.

Ryu DOES have a flame-colored hadouken, but it is supposed to be more powerful than the blue. I believe it's called the shakunetsu hadouken in the game. They probably just wanted the regular one, hence going with the blue.

True, though I bet the E. Honda version of Ryu only has the regular one in his arsenal. I bet those (among other things) will be the original Ryu's trump cards. I can't wait to see Ryu give him a beat-down! Hehe.
